Case study: Whitworths
The Brief
We were appointed by Whitworth Bros, one of the UK’s established flour milling businesses, to replace a prominent building fascia sign at their Victoria Mills site in Wellingborough.
The project centred around the removal and replacement of a substantial, lozenge-shaped flex face sign, measuring an impressive 10.7 metres wide by 3 metres high, positioned at significant height on the mill building.
Following the main installation, we were invited back to complete further outdoor signage and internal branding across the site, including directional signage, building identification, and interior graphics.
Large-Scale Fascia Sign Replacement
The existing building sign required complete removal before the new signage could be installed. Given the scale of the sign and its elevated position, the project demanded careful planning, specialist access equipment and an experienced installation team.
The replacement sign featured a bespoke aluminium framing system with a digitally printed, tensioned flex face, custom made to the brand’s distinctive lozenge shape.
Our installation planning included the controlled removal of the existing sign in sections, assessing the building’s supporting structure and establishing suitable fixing points for the new frame.
The new aluminium frame sections and printed flex face were then installed to create a seamless, professionally finished sign across the building elevation.
With a sign of this size, installed at height on an industrial building, particular attention was given to safe access, secure fixing methods and the handling of large components.
Extending the Rebrand Across the Site
Following the successful fascia sign replacement, Whitworth Bros worked with Sign Logic to deliver further signage and branding improvements throughout Victoria Mills.
This included a new post and panel sign at the main entrance, incorporating directional information to help visitors navigate the site.
We also manufactured and installed additional lozenge-shaped building signs, maintaining a consistent visual identity across key locations, including the Innovation Centre.
The project was complemented by bespoke meeting room signage and a range of window graphics, extending the refreshed branding into the building interiors.
Together, these additional elements created a more coordinated and professional appearance across the wider facility.
The result
The completed project gave Whitworth Bros a refreshed and consistent signage scheme, from the prominent fascia sign high above the mill to the smaller details throughout the site.
Combining large-scale flex face manufacturing, specialist installation at height and a variety of bespoke indoor and outdoor signs, the project demonstrates our ability to manage complex signage requirements across substantial industrial premises.
