Case study: West Northamptonshire Council
Working alongside Enjoy Creative, we delivered a multi-stage signage project to support West Northamptonshire Council’s rebrand across multiple buildings.
The brief: a coordinated approach across multiple buildings
As part of a wider re-brand programme, West Northamptonshire Council required a range of signs across multiple buildings, including Angel Square in Northampton, The Forum in Towcester, and The Abbey Centre in Daventry. Working alongside Enjoy Creative, we were tasked with translating the creative vision into practical, high-quality signage solutions, with each element carefully considered to suit its surroundings and purpose.
Delivered in stages under a single contract, the project called for a coordinated approach across different locations and signage types, from window graphics and external signage to internal wayfinding.
The solution: bespoke signage, designed around each space
Our team worked through the requirements to determine the most suitable materials, finishes and production methods for each application. The project included several distinct elements:
Window graphics: Clear materials allowed selected graphics to be applied to glass while maintaining visibility, while printed frosted film provided privacy in other areas without losing the visual impact of the design.
External signage: Signage designed to support the wider scheme and help identify the council’s buildings.
Wayfinding and directories: Internal signage, including floor directories positioned around lifts, helping visitors navigate the buildings and find their destinations.
Custom Braille door signs: We developed a bespoke solution for Braille door signage, addressing a more specialised requirement within the overall scheme.
Floor graphics: Bespoke floor graphics were incorporated into the project, adding another layer to the signage scheme and helping carry the design through the interior spaces.
From manufacture to installation
The result
The completed project brought together a varied range of signage under one coordinated programme. By combining bespoke graphics, external identification, internal wayfinding and accessible door signage, we helped translate the original design vision into practical solutions for the council’s buildings.
Following the successful completion of the council signage project, we were approached to deliver additional window graphics for the Family Hub service based within the buildings. Working alongside Enjoy Creative once again, we brought the new graphics to life, building on the positive results of the original project and the confidence it had established in our work.
